The music and recordings heard on this album came from my first two albums, Nostalgia For Atlantis (1987) and Industry (1988). These two albums were recorded with, to put it with a bit of understatement, very humble means. Both were recorded in my tiny little personal studio of the period, Zen Gunfighter, in the Collingwood Arts Center in Toledo. Both albums were recorded with very little in the way of instruments and equipment, recorded to a 4 track cassette machine, even mixed to stereo to a cassette tape machine. "Humble" barely describes it. They were then released, in cassette format only, via the tiny little obscure label known as Covert Music (with our obscurity being obvious enough to all involved, people with a strong sense of reality and a sense of humor, that we decided our label should use the slogan "you never know what we're up to", with the label name itself being something of an inside joke). Those two albums, among others (by The Penguins, who later morphed into Oedipus Cowboy, and Lunchtime For Microbes), were sold at local record stores and by mail order (pre-WWW, of course), advertising in assorted music "zines" of the time such as Option magazine, Sound Choice, Factsheet Five, and probably others I forget.

My thanks to Ken Knab, Steve Miller, Dave Thomas, and probably other people who deserve credit for their aid in making the original recordings possible, but whose help has been lost in old memories. And many thanks to Tim Story, for his time and effort in making it possible to extract this old music from the depths of time and renew it for a new audience (and maybe even some old audience who had the originals).
